Audio FX in V3 . . . missing in V4 . . .

Looked/searched and didn't see this covered. I have been using Vegas 3.0, full registered copy, since early days. Have the latest update or close, 3.0c.

I have a tiny test video project with .AVI files and multitrack audio. A couple Video FX and a couple Audio FX. Audio FX is Reverb and Paragraphic EQ from the full-blown FX series (not the Express, whatever those are). Open the project in Vegas 3.0 and everything is cool. Click the Track FX button and I see the FX and can adjust, save settings, etc. Can render to NTSC DVD, burn a DVD and video and audio quality is drop-dead-stunning.

Now, open the same project in Vegas 4.0a. Yup, both are installed cause this is for a review. While the appropriate Audio Track FX buttons are bright green, when I click on it I see an empty dialog box saying "No FX Selected". Hmmm, but if I then right click the same green button and choose the plug-in chooser I see the FX I have applied and I can even click on one and the settings are correct and changable. When I preview, all the Audio FX are there and working! Weird.

I have looked to see if there is a setting the plugins folder, since Vegas 4.0 seems to be looking somewhere else. I can find no place in Prefs to change the default folder. Any help greatly appreciated.

BTW, the Video FX are fine and exactly the same as in V3. Since this machine has tons of plug-ins and many other applications I don't want to go moving the folder and breaking the other apps.

Another thing, the FX Automation looks VERY exciting. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Been waiting and the waiting looks like it has paid off! Nice work team. Super nice work. I see that some of the things, like Paragraphic EQ are not 'automatable'. Will there be 'fixed' versions of these? I could really use that in a current project.

Thanks.

Confirmed this is still an issue with Vegas 4.0b.

Thanks to a submission of a project with this issue we have found a repro.

In the meantime the work around to this issue is this:

Bring up the plug-in chooser and then press OK in it w/o adding any fx. This can be gotten to via the context menu of the highlighted (green) icon for track effects. Then save the project within Vegas 4.0 with another name (just in case)

Hi Ivan. I'm the source of the submission.

The workaround is what I have already been doing. Actually after opening the project in version 4.0 and getting into the Chooser I see and chosen plug-ins. If I click on them I get the No FX Selected. But, if I just click OK I go into the properties for a plug-in. However, since I do save the settings more or less religiously, saving the setting is still broken. So I can do a tweak to an effect but since that effect is likely on other tracks, I cannot save it to load the identical settings into an associated track that needs the same setting.

The workaround is only partial and I really do want to see this as a fairly
high priority.

So it is important, but I'll bet the team could use a relaxing weekend. It's not that important :-)

Please pass along that they are doing one heck of a job. I hope that all continue to be so successful. I really like Vegas 4.0 and DVD Architect is a drop-dead great
product for a version 1.0. Terrific!
