Subject:Tascam US-428 & Acid 4.0

Anyone know anything about fixing it so that Acid 4.0 will work with a Tascam US-428. I get run.dll error and then it freezes if you make changes to the tempo while playing back.

Also got errors when adjusting audio preferences in the ASIO menu stuff. That error didn't crash the program though. The tempo thing is what made it freeze up.

So do I need some kind of special driver for the Tascam to make it work? The beta driver for the Delta appears to have helped, so perhaps I can get a driver for the Tascam to make it work too?????

If anyone knows, let me know. Tascam's website didn't mention anything about a fix for Acid.

TASCAM seems to state a limited amount of supported applications with their current drivers on their site—ACID 4.0 not being among them. They also state support for a number of apps is under development, but don't say which. I take it you've tried to contact TASCAM themselves?

My tascam US-428 and 224 work fine under acid 3 and 4. it's probably something else in your system.

I've got a US-428 and Acid Pro 3. I didn't think i could use the 428 with it so i've never tried. Buckskin, how did you do it? what can you control in Acid?

The Tascam boxes won't work with Windows XP service pack 1, so you have to do a selective update of XP. More trouble than it's worth if you ask me. My 428 is sitting on a shelf, unusable at the moment.

Have you received any driver fix for running Tascam US-428 with Acid 4.0 ?
I have been having difficulty as well trying to playback Acid 4.0b through my Tascam US-428 laptop set-up without stuttering and audio drop out.

I would appreciate hearing from you about any kind of work around solution .

Thanks

that's bull. The 428 and 224 work fine and yes they do need WinXP's SP1. But you don't have to go to any trouble doing a selective update. I have set up several 428's and 224's for people and own a 428 and a 224 myself.

As for does the Tascam's work with acid, yes, they do. I never said they work as control surfaces. That's up to SF to implement. The code is right there on the Tascam 428 downloads page. And every app that supports it as a control surface had to implement it in their app themselves. Though you can use Bomes midi translater to make the tascam emulate keystrokes and therefore work as a control surface in acid.

Just a show of support for Bome's. I use it all of the time, and it works great. You can set it up to use the transport controls, and the shuttle wheel can be used for volume and panning. Pretty much the only thing you can't use is the faders.
