1) I can't seem to get high enough volume recording an acoustic guitar via a mic into my sound card (sound blaster platinum ex). Any tips? 2) In above situation, how do I turn off external speakers so playback of earlier tracks ONLY comes thru headphones? 3) In order to record electric guitar directly into s. card, and get enuf volume, I have to BLAST it. What's the trick to decreasing my monitoring volume? (If I turn down any volume controls, it's not hot/loud enough). |

1) Sounds like you need a mic preamp of some sort. There are many options, including picking up a mixer with built-in mic preamps, or just buying a standalone mic preamp. 2) Hmm...do you have ACID Pro 4.0? That version will allow you to route specific tracks to specific outputs on specific audio interfaces via busses. Playback would then only occur via the specific outputs. (I hope I understood your question.) A mixer would also solve this issue. 3) How exactly do you have your guitar connected? For example, I have my guitar connected to a DigiTech GNX2 guitar effects processor, which has both 1/4" outs and a S/PDIF out. I connect the S/PDIF out to my M-Audio Audiophile 2496's S/PDIF in and record via that input. To get a hot enough signal for recording, I have to turn the digital output of the GNX2 itself up. The same would apply if I was to use the 1/4" analog outs, which have a separate output level knob. HTH, Iacobus |
