I downloaded the 4.0 demo. When i try to play the internal synth or vst synths with an external keyboard, i get a delay....i press the key and half a second later the sound comes. I seem to remember having this problem with other sequencing software, but I can't remember what to do about it. Any ideas? Also, when I load the demo song with 4.0, I get timing glitches (stuttering play back) unless I disable one of the soft synths (there are three instances on the demo). With one disabled, I have no problems, and when simply piling on samples, I have no problems (my own project) I can live with two instances of soft synths, as I don't need to render entire compositions on the computer..just drums and synth sounds which i dont have the hardware for, but I'm wondering if it's my computer speed or ram that causes this. I have a 500 Mhz pentium with 160 meg of Ram. Thanks |

Greetings. It might be your soundcard/audio interface that's at fault here. Anyway, to answer your first query go into 'Options'>'Preferences'>'Audio' and adjust the 'Playback buffering'. The lower the number, the shorter the delay (otherwise known as latency) between striking a key and hearing the note/sound. Depending on your soundcard, you can usually get it down 7 or 8ms, although double that is good enough for most situations and is less likely to be unstable. HTH One Love, Spy! |

Spy, I think that should do the trick. While messing with a stand alone software synth, I found a setting labeled 'latency' in the setup and moved that to around 7, which fixed the problem. I wasn't sure of the terminology or location in Acid. Many thanks, |

If your audio card supports ASIO drivers, I would highly recommend you use those drivers. They will provide you the lowest possible latencies. Peter |
