problems when recording with sound forge -Sound Forge - PC

Has anyone else experienced this or have suggestions on what might be causing the problem? I am recording from an analog reel-to-reel machine to Sound Forge, at 24-bit and 48,000 kHz. Randomly the program/computer will pause everything it is doing. Often it happens as soon as I hit the record button and sometimes it happens during the middle of the recording. I have not had this pausing problem with any other program on the computer.

Make sure that your hard drive has been defragmented recently, and that your video card and sound card drivers are up to date. Also close any other programs that may be running.
