Come on SOFO!! Either inmplement the midi/VSTi right or forget it!!! This program crashes SOOO much with VSTi's I can't believe it!!! My other programs (Cubase and VStack) never crash due to VSTi's!!! What the F...!!!! I've been an Acid user since day one, and I have NEVER been so frustrated. Do we need a complete rewrite of this thing to get it to work as advertised? I bought V4 to use the supposed VSTi aspect that it advertises. Yeah right!!! Christ, I can even route the VSTi's to Cool Edit Pro and have no problem, of course I am recording the wav and not midi. Maybe I should approach Acid that way. It will probably still crash!!! I am ready to go back to V3 and forget this pathetic piece of crap!! No offense to anyone at SOFO, but this is absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!! Blah, blah blah!!!!!!!! I have all the necessary and capable hardware to run it (P4,1.6GHz, 640 Mg ram, etc.) |

Hey dude... Which vsti's are giving you all these headaches? There is a vsti compatiblity chart. Do a search and you'll find it. Did you get the latest update to the plugsound plugins? What are you doing exactly[step by step] that is causing acid to crash? Make sure to send that to sofo also via... http://www.sonicfoundry.com/support/supportmail.asp Sorry to hear that your still having problems. Not sure as to why though. Ed. |

Well, today Virtual Guitarist EE made it crash. I was in the middle of changing patches when it froze up. Of course I had to reboot as usual because I lost my audio output that I use. I'll try the plugsound update, but it certainly is frustrating, and I seem to be reluctant to use Cubase much. I am so ingrained in using a combo of Acid and Cool Edit that I guess I don't want to give this up. I still have hope though for 4.0C or Acid 5, if SOFO survives!! |

Please can we NOT go there. Lets just deal with the problems at hand. I got a response from sofo about the plugsounds plugins a while back that they were going to be in contact with them to work it out. I went to the sight and as you'll see they've updated their compatibility list from last time. Plus if you do a search you'll find others are getting plugsounds to work fine now. Who makes virtual guitarist EE [web site url?]and have you been in touch with their tech support about any testing that they've done with acid 4? It looks to me a big reason peoples vsti's aren't compatible with acid is because its new and NOT on their priority list to get tested first. You can then understand why cubase, logic, etc, gets first dibs. Acid does its thing a bit differently than those apps. Once these plugin developers gets used to sofos implementation it should all be good soon. Please try to stay cool and contact each's tech support so that we can try to iron things out so that you can start having more "consistant" fun ;) Ed. |

Virtual guitarist ee has a forum over at: http://vg.clubcubase.net/vgforum/index.php I did a search for acid 4 and found that people were having good results. I'll do a better check later. Try posting their to get to the bottom of all this as well. Ed. |

A quote from the forum from Sven Bornemark the site administrator: ---In VG and VG EE we are stretching the limits of the VST protocol a bit, so for this reason the Steinberg programs are the most reliable for these instruments. But thankfully we have this forum where users learn to fix problems that may occur in other hosts!--- Hey, It's a start! ;) HTH. Ed. |

Thanks for your input. It's guys like you that keep all of us informed and excited about programs we love. Don't get me wrong, I am upset because Acid has been my main prog since its inception and V4 has disappointed me with its implementation of VSTi's. Ironically I am a guitar player and just got VGEE to try out. |
