I've been pretty happy using ACID DJ, but it has a few limitations that bug me. I love the it's so intuitive to use, and don't want anything too much more complicated.

Can anyone recommend anything? -- I'd like a CLICK TRACK, to be able to sustain notes, and also to change tempo at various track points more easily. (I'll alter BPM slightly throughout a track to make it "breathe." My fingers get sore if I have to add them all by hand.)

Thanks

ACID Pro 4.0, but that would be subjective. :o)

There's no click track in 4.0, but you can certainly make your own or use a drum loop to use as reference. Changing tempo is also basically the same. On the other hand, you'd be able to use different time signatures, use FX envelopes, have the Chopper and (most importantly) better sound fidelity.

acid music 3.0 allows tempo change and has simple fx. you'd still have to use a loop as a click track but it will only cost you $39 to upgrade to am3 vs $349 for ap4.

You can pick up ACID Pro 4.0 over at Musician's Friend for $149.99. It also includes Sound Forge Studio 6.0 and an 8Pack loops bundle.
