I have a problem. How do I get rid of space in my recording
that I dont want. When ever I stop recording I always get
space after my recording. Can I get only what I recorded
with out the space added.

Hi Jerome,

My guess is that you are using the "record" function in the main Acid
screen to record from a mic or line-in source. If this is the case,
then I believe your problem can be solved with the addition of "Sound
Forge XP" editor. This allows you to take your finished recorded track
and clip starts/ends, effect EQ, normalize (compress) and also
to "acidize" your recorded track. (this is a huge feature) You can
then use the recorded tracks like loops.

You can get a similar effect by using "Acid Music" which is the next
step up from "DJ". This program has volume control which you can use
to "fast fade"

Last but not least, your current program will allow you to "clip" the
track at any point you wish.

1) put curser in general area you want to clip
2) Click on magnifying glass icon until you get the resolution you
need
3)Click on track you want to clip off so that the curser is in the
exact spot you want your erase to start.
4) Once the curser is correct and the track you want to clip is
highlited in color, then press the "s" key on the keyboard to insert
a "break".
5) then use mouse to click on the area you want erased. Once it, and
only it, is colored, press delete. voila'

what exactly is Sound Forge XP editor?

i'm considering purchasing Acid Pro 4.0
but i am concerned about being able edit wav elements in isolation
(i've used a friend's system quite often
and he opens the elements in sound forge to work with individual elements
and then uses the final elements in Acid or Vegas).

i don't have the cash to buy Acid -and- Sound Forge,
and Sound Forge Studio doesn't have the support i'd need.

i noticed the mention of Sound Forge XP editor on one of the comparison charts,
but i don't know what that means.

Deleting part of an audio event does not get rid of the extraneous data in a file.

If you want to permanently get rid of data, you can use Sound Forge or Sound Forge Studio as Dogcreek mentioned and use it to externally edit files from within ACID.

You can also solo the recorded track, set the Loop Region over just the data you want to keep and use CTRL+M to render the results as a new track. (Be sure to set the volume for the track to 0.0 dB before rendering; volume is taken into account when a track is bounced down.)

Also, the track type may change based upon the duration of the audio. If it's longer than 30 seconds, it'll change into a Beatmapped track. Anything ranging from more than half a second to 30 seconds becomes a Loop. Anything half a second or less becomes a One-shot. This can all be changed on the Audio tab under Options>Preferences on the menu bar.

Sound Forge XP Studio is the previous version of Sound Forge Studio; SoFo truncated the title starting with version 6.0 so as to not confuse the "XP" moniker with Windows XP.

sorry,
i'm still not really clear.

the "comparison charts" make it look as though
SF Studio is somehow bundled into Acid Pro
(which would give me the wav editting support i need, kind of),
but that seems a bit surprising.

on the other hand,
needing to spend the additional $70 for SF Studio on top of $350 for Acid Pro
is also shocking in a very different kind of way ;-)

Sound Forge Studio used to be bundled with earlier versions of ACID Pro, but not so in ACID Pro 4.0, unless you go with that deal at Musician's Friend as DKeenum mentioned. (That's quite the steal, BTW.)
