I've got Acid Pro 3 and I was looking to see if a Track compressor plug existed. I can't find any in the collection of plug-ins that I downloaded with Acid Pro. Have I missed it? Is it one that I have to buy? When I search the site all I find is a .jpg picture of the Track Compressor that features in the help document for the Track Equalizer plug in. Any idea where to find this? |

Hi I have Acid Pro 4.0 and it is loaded with plugins I have Acid Music 3.0 and it has no dynamics at all. Most of the Acid loops have already been thru the compressor but that does not help for user loops. Musicians Friend Has Acid Pro 4.0 for $149 Jimi |

I've Acid Pro 3 and I'm sure it had a compressor plug in at one point. But after I upgraded to Windows XP I had to reinstall it and since I bought it on line and Pro 4 had arrived, I was not sure whether I was downloading everything I originally was able to download. |

The Track Compressor should be in the list of DirectX plug-ins. It's very basic but should be there. Iacobus |

Where do I find them? When I open the plug in chooserI get a list of FX and Track Optimized Effects. There's no Track Compressor in any of them. And I've just noticed that my express effects have all turned to "Demo" mode and it says my serial number is invalid. So what's happening here? |

You can use any compresser, just go to the mixer screen, hit the master FX button, and add compression to the master that way it's over the entire mix... Try these they work great... http://www.directxfiles.com/manufacturers/digilogue.htm |

Hmmm. Did you try completely uninstalling and reinstalling? Make sure to pick up the full ACID Pro 3.0 update and install that. It's actually the full version that also can act as a demo. (Keep your serial key handy.) HTH, Iacobus |

Tried that... lots of times. I had big trouble. It wouldn't recognise my serial number until I did a search for every single Sonic Foundry product and anything even remotely connected with sonic Foundry. I deleted it all and then reinstalled and that worked... except I don't seem to have all the Plug Ins. The Express FX downloads have suddenly times out and run only in demo mode. They now require a different serial number but where do I get one? Also, they don't seem to have a Track Compressor anyway. |

Make sure you do not delete the folders that apps create before actually going through the app's uninstall routine first. Try booting into Safe Mode (repeatedly press F8 on your keyboard while your system boots), uninstall everything SoFo related, then boot back into normal mode and reinstall. HTH, Iacobus |

Hmm... been there before. The uninstall doesn't uninstall completely. I had to go through layer upon layer of the Registry keys and remove them all by hand before I got it to work last time. And since then the CD rom has on occassions refused to open - not all the time. Most of the time it's OK, but sometimes it just freezes now. So I'm reluctant to go through this process again unless it really will solve the present problem... previously I changed my Operating system to XP and for some reason Acid Pro refused to recognise my serial number. That's when I had to do a complete sweep of everything Acid pro... probably overkill but merely uninstalling and deleting remnants was not enough. I had to go to the registry and it is amazine how many files one has to find, none of them with obvious Sonic Foundry names. So, would your suggestion allow me to re-enter a serial number to the ExpressFX, which have all just returned to demo mode and refuse to acknowledge my serial number. This is in addition to my noticing a lack of the Track Compressor... which I'm sure was once there. But I don't know what should be there and what should not be anymore. What FX should I have bundled with Acid Pro 3? And should they time out and returned to demo mode at any time? |

Usually, booting into Safe Mode will allow you to straighten out any problems with various things like errant software or driver installs. Try it. Couldn't hurt at this point. Make sure that you delete any leftover folder residue after you go through the uninstall routine. You should have the whole suite of XFX plug-ins, which includes 1, 2 and 3 as well as the basic ExpressFX plug-ins when you install ACID Pro 3.0. They should not time out and actually should be fully usable from the get-go. HTH, Iacobus |

OK... Safe Mode... Uninstall... delete leftover folders.... Reinstall in safe mode. I have been here before though. |
