Subject:Any program for creating MIDI files, easy and fun like ACID?

My 12-year-old boys are using ACID DJ to make music, and their band teacher thinks they're making some pretty cool stuff. He wants a composition from them in MIDI format so he can convert it to sheet music and have the band play it, with the option of playing some background MIDI parts where necessary. But I don't think there's any way to go from ACID to MIDI. So I'm wondering if there's a MIDI program along the same lines as ACID, or at least easy and fun to use, that they can learn to use to create MIDI file compositions. Thanks. |

You could upgrade to ACID Pro 4.0, but since they're using ACID DJ, that means they're using digital audio. In addition, ACID Pro 4.0 is a lot more complex than ACID DJ due to its features. MIDI also fits into ACID's paradigm and does not have a staff view for MIDI (if they're into traditional composition). Maybe Music Creator 2003? As with any app, though, there's a learning curve involved. If they stick with ACID, which they're already familiar with, they'd be able to integrate what they have created before with ACID DJ (including using already-existing ACD projects) and include MIDI compositions of their own.
