Subject:Is there a VST/DX Wrapper that allows parameter/time control in ACID? Posted by: gmay Date:3/26/2003 8:04:07 AM I have many DX plug-ins which languish unused as they do not have fx control functionality i.e. I can't draw in the lines to control various things like wet/dry, frequency and on/off. Is there a wrapper (to purchase for better spec rather than freebie) that is stable and quick which will give me control over all these plug-ins and also enable my steinberg vst fx to work in acid? I know I can duplicate the track and use the effects on the part I need but this just takes up power and much needed space on my screen. Many thanks for any help given. Greg

Reply by: SonyNateM Date:3/26/2003 8:54:37 AM Greg, Both the Fxpansion VST-DX Adapter and DirectiXer should allow full parameter automation of your VST plugins when used in ACID 4.0. If anyone else knows of VST->DX adapters that will support this, please chime in. As for your old DX plug-ins, there is no way to "add" automation to them. We'll have to wait for the company to update them and implement this functionality. Nate

I tried the Directixer which works ok, but I think it might be wise to try a few wrappers and also invest in some top drawer DX plugins(Filters, Echo, Delay) which will be automatable in ACID 4. To my knowledge, here's a current list of automatable plug-in manufacturers: Sonic Foundry, Cakewalk, Izotope, PSP Audioware, Sonic Timeworks, Spaztech(freeware res filter), WaveArts, Waves. Perhaps there are some new ones I'm missing... HTH, Joel

Also, I'm not sure if it available from Fxpansion anymore, as Cakewalk bought out the rights for the wrapper. I do know that it will soon be available for sale from Cakewalk directly.
