Subject:ASIO engine / clicks & cracks

Using AP4 with WinXP SP1.
I very often get cracking sounds as the curser moves over the start of the audio block. When I use MME I do not get this problem. Setting the quick fade value to 15ms (from 10 as a standard) does improve things somewhat. I have set my soundcard to 11 ms of latency which is big enough of a buffer since I don't have the crackling problem in any other audio software (eg. Sonar).
I guess this has something to do with the Acid ASIO engine. Will there be an update by version 4.0c ?? Does anyone else have those problems or know a workaround?
Thanks,
Gordian

I might add that the cracking sound is not noticeale in the rendered audio.

I've heard ACID 4.0 implements ASIO a little differently, hence there was a problem with M-Audio's earlier Delta ASIO drivers (which was actually M-Audio's fault and has since been fixed by them).

Have you tried different drivers for your soundcard/audio interface?

Also, if you're not using MIDI all that much, ASIO isn't any different from WDM (or MME). Using WDM is actually more flexible, especially when multiple audio interfaces are involved.

I get the same problems with my Terratec DMX 6 Fire.. But not all the time.. Stutters quite bad with Asio and Looped sections!!

No driver updates from Terratec either!

Have you tried WDM instead of ASIO? Again, if you don't use MIDI and VSTi's all that much, WDM would be a good alternative.
