Hello - I record and edit speech (Bible study classes recorded in various churches). I'd like to know if there are any good books on sound editing i.e. understanding recording levels, ideal settings for commercial products, etc. My recordings are ok but I'd like to know what standards I should be shooting for when editing. Normalization is a big question - I just play it by ear and I'd like to know if there are any guidlines I should consider. For example, what's an ideal Peak and RMS setting. Also, I notice that some recordings have a harsher or higher frequency levels. These may sound fine on the computer but not so hot in the car where volume must be increased to counter the noisy environment. Maybe I need to be aiming for a warmer sound. I think you get my question. Any help will be appreciated. Chris |
