It sounds like you haven't registered the MP3 plugin yet. Note that you can't "save as" any type other than as a .acd project file. You can Render to various file types such as .wav and .mp3. Choose File / Render As, and choose .mp3 as the file type. This will pop up a screen to let you register the MP3 plugin (this is free). After that, you should be able to add MP3 files to your projects. |

Just try rendering (not saving as) something to MP3. When the registration screen pops up, fill in the blanks and send it. |

Stuart, Open a project, go to File>Render As, then from the Save As Type menu, choose MP3, choose the bitrate you like from the Template menu (or hit Custom to create your own template), give the file a name and Save. If you are unable to do any of this, please give us more details. Nate |

stuartp, The MP3 plug-in is installed with the ACID 4.0 application. There is no option to install without it. Please remove the copy of ACID you have using Add/Remove Programs (in your Control Panel) and then reinstall ACID from the your CD or from the latest update, available here. Let me know if this corrects the problem. Nate |

Stuart, Please attempt to give me more detailed explanations of what you have and haven't tried, or this thread is very quickly going to end up 50+ posts long. :) Here are the questions I have at this moment: 1) Have you registered ACID or any other Sonic Foundry software yet? I cannot locate you anywhere in our database. (I normally try to reserve extended support for registered users, as the forums are often the first place people who are unable to call technical support <due to an invalid license> look for help) 2) What version of Windows are you using? If it is Win2000 or WinXP, are you logged into this machine as an administrator? 3) Do you have any other Sonic Foundry software installed? If so, what? Is MP3 an available format in these apps? 4) What directories do you have ACID and your other Sonic Foundry software installed in? 5) If you open ACID drop in a loop, paint some of it onto the timeline, then go to File>Render As, what formats do appear in the Save As Type dropdown list? 6) Have you ever been able to use MP3 files in ACID? Please try to answer these questions as best you can. Nate |
