I'm doing this project in a hurry and just hooked up my camera (Sony TRV7) to my TV for previewing. The picture is there alright but it's in black and white! How can I fix this?

I'm using a Dell laptop, 700 mz speed, 256K memory, Matrox 80 gig firewire drive, SIIG Dual Cardbus 1394 IEEE card.

I tried playing the clip both from the trimmer and from the timeline. Same thing. Other clips/stills too.

HI,

Your sony cam has in-camera effects, check and make sure

you didn't accidentally set your camera to record in

black & white.

Good luck!

Also,
Try going to the icons at the top of your preview

window. Move the curser to the one thats third from

the right. It looks sort of like a tic, tac, toe symbol

When highlighted, it says overlay.

Now, click on the tiny arrow to the right of the symbol,

and you'll get a dropdown box. Any one of those choices will change

the color of your display window, except ( safe areas, and grid)

click on the one that says safe areas, and your color should come

back, To get rid of the safe area outline, click the tic, tac, toe

symbol.

Try that, hope it helps, if my first reply didn't.

happy editing :o)

Hi! I am having the same exact problem with Vegas 4.0a. I also have a Sony TRV7 camera, but I never had this problem with other NLEs.

The odd thing is that the LCD display on the TRV7 *is* in color during the preview, but the attached monitor displays black and white. How can that be? And yet, when I play a tape in the camera, the external monitor displays color just fine. Only when previewing in Vegas do I get black and white on the external monitor.

I have tried playing with all of the controls in the preview window without any luck. Is this a known problem with the Sony TRV7?
