Subject:Mix Acid Output in Cubase or Sonar

I've heard about virtual audio cables but nothing pertaining to acid. Does anyone know if there is something other than rewire that would let me route acid audio into another app's channel mixer?

Try rendering each channel out and then reinserted into cubase.??

Or you could sync them using a virtual midi port like hubis or midi yoke.

"...something other than rewire that would let me route acid audio into another app's channel mixer"

thx but rendering then importing is what i want to remove from the production process.

For physical connections, I'm thinking maybe via an inserted Bus in ACID Pro. The Bus would be routed to a specific output on a specific audio interface into the input of another audio interface. (That, of course, means that you'd have to do real time recording with the chosen input in the receiving app. You might as well render out if that was the case.)

Some soundcards also allow internal routing of output to a specific path like a soundcard's software mixer, which would then be chosen as input for recording as described above in the receiving app.

HTH,

would it be possible to sync both programs as well then? from what i can tell, you'd have to somehow hit Play simultaneously in both ACID and Cubase. or isn't this relevant to the original question?

thx doc,

duh...i forgot i can use directwire (the internal routing of the wamirack).

as for sync, i use am3 and it has none to my knowledge.

Actually, I totally forgot about MIDI sync capability, which is available in ACID Pro only, so that's an option as well. (You'd have to use something like SoFo's Virtual MIDI Router as oofunk mentioned.)

I once tried VAC http://spider.nstu.nsk.su/music/software/eng/vac.html I could only get it to run using MME and the latency was huge. I tried it with absynth and Vegas with my delta 1010, which uses is best with ASIO drivers.

i thought about directwire and the virual MIDI router, but i'd be surprised if it worked.

rewire is the best and only proven option. we'll have to wait for acid pro 5.0

you can always go post on the rewire petition thread now and get it off your chest.

then start back streaming wavs again.

I've never had problems using the Virtual MIDI Router. (Then again, I don't use MIDI all that much.)

Tell me more, tell me more. Is it really possible to control an ACID-project without midi-tracks via VMR from Cubase SX? If so: How do I set up both ACID pro and Cubase?
