Hi there.
I just ordered the Vegas+DVD package which also include the AC-3 software. My laptop has a built in sound card (The Cirrus Logic "Crystal WDM Audio Codec") which works fine, but it's only a stereo card (unless I'm totally misinformed). Now would probably be a good time to tell you I'm good with computers but not a genius. For example, I did not know what Oxford 911 was until I had audio mix problems with my firewire drive and VV3. (A problem which should be no more in V4 according to SF support.)
Eventually I will upgrade to a 5.1 sound card and here's where I need your help. Can anyone recommend a card which to their knowledge will work trouble free with Vegas+DVD and my setup? Over $200 is too much and I prefer really portable stuff since I'm on the move a lot with my whole "studio" which fits in a backpack.
Dell Inspiron 8200, 1.7 GHz, 768 MB, 40 GB internal drive
External 120 GB LaCie FireWire drive (Oxford 911)
NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go (Dell Mobile)
OHCI-compliant FireWire card
Win XP Home SP1
And if it has any significance to my question - I work in PAL and daisy-chain my PD-150 through FireWire.
I'm vastly thankful for all possible help.
