Does you laptop have any video capture interfaces? Sometimes these can cause problems if there are issues with the drivers. Try this:

1) Browse to the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\ACID 4.0\Video Hardware Drivers

2) Drag the following file to your desktop:

extmondrv.dll

3) Now, try to open ACID.

If it works, and you don't use ACID to do video work with preview on an external monitor, then you are good to go. You can leave the file out and ACID will function as it should.

Let me know if this helps,

Nate

Greetings,

I have the same problem after I installed some software
for DVD. I tried the solution posted above, but it did
not work. Are there any other possible causes / solutions?

Thanks!

After install of ACID 4.0b (demo) I get the following error message and the program freezes on the splash screen:

Could be a multitude of things. Can we have more info on your system config? (Hardware and software installed.)

Make sure nothing is running in the background while running ACID (like antivirus programs, firewalls, utilities, etc.).

HTH,
Iacobus
