I'm glad you guys like my plugin. It was a one-off but I've seen a lot of people asking about other plugins they would like to see so I'm thinking about doing some more plugins. Satish, I've seen you mention other plugins your thinking of so if there are plugins you want to farm off to other people or if anyone out there really wants some plugins just post your suggestions.
I was hoping you were gonna do that! Brilliant! Where abouts are you in th UK? I'm in NW London - Wembley - yeah? We gotta a small "Vegas Sunday: Share 'n Compare" thing going on in April - interested Scott?
Hmm, that's strange. There have been two bug fixes since the original release. One was related to installer issues but wouldn't have caused the 'Vegas not installed' message. It might be worth getting the latest version and trying it. Incidentally, I strongly recommend anyone using my plugin get's the latest version (1.02) it corrects a bug with the textures not being scaled correctly during the transition.
If you still have problems with the latest version ...
I'm in Newbury, Berkshire - so not too far away but I am a lazy sod 8o)
Actually, the only reason I tinker with Vegas is because one of my friends is a Vegas user and I'm helping out with the computer graphics side of things as well as plugins for projects he's working on. So, I'll pass on the "Vegas Sunday" so that "real" Vegas user's won't miss out.
Well, since you asked about additional transitions:
I'd like to see a transition plug-in that takes a BMP or JPG (or any picture format you can use) of a grayscale image and does a dissolve transition based on the grayscale values. This would be similar to the "Gradient Wipe" in Cinestream. It would be nice if you could specify dark first or light first. I really miss not having this in Vegas.
Scott, Dito on what jetdv requested. I’d love to see the equivalent of Alpha Magic in Pinnacle Studio, which takes a grayscale image and does a dissolve based on the luminance values of the grayscale. You can manually do this in Vegas using a composite track and varying the luminance via keyframe but it’s a hassle because you need to add two extra tracks and split your video where you want the transition to take place. It would be so much easier with a plugin. I’m a Java programmer and just posted over on the DirectX plugin forum to see if this could be done with C#. Since you already use C++ it would be easier for you. BTW, your transition is really great.
I could do but I'd like to find out first why it won't install. In my post I asked Marquat to look at a few registry keys. Can you do the same and let me know what you see?
Just to third the request. I'm considering Vegas Video over upgrading to Premiere 6.5 (I'm on Premiere 5.1c at the moment).
I was about to post asking if anybody knew of a "Gradient Wipe" transition for Vegas because I use it a lot in photo montages, particularly if a group I'm doing a video for has a logo or I like the effect of one of the SpiceRack gradients.
The suggested transition would be just the ticket!
The gradient wipe transition can be simulated now - it just takes THREE tracks. Having it in an actual transition would make it a whole lot easier to use.

Isn't this EXACTLY what SpiceMaster does, and much (much (and with version 2, much)) more? Plus, it comes with a gazillion gradients to do it on.
I installed one of the earlier versions and use it in VV3.0c. Can I just install the newer version over top of the old one or should I uninstall it first? Thanks for a great transition.
Yes, SpiceMaster does that... and a whole lot more. It is a very full featured package and overkill if all you want is a simple gradient wipe - i.e. choose picture and determine whether it goes light to dark or dark to light. Sometimes you just don't need all the additional options that SpiceMaster provides. When I do need the extra options, I'll buy SpiceMaster. Until then, If necessary I can get by with:
Add the gradient picture to video track 1, add video to video track 2 (the "to" video), and more video to video track 3 (the "from" video). Create the parent/child relationship between tracks 1 and 2. Click on the Event FX button and add a Mask Generator. For the first keyframe, set the luminence values to 1, 1, 0, 1 (going downward). Set a second keyframe at the end and set the values to 0, 0, 0, 1. (reverse these to go the other direction)
