Subject:While pitching up bass one shots...clicking noise happens...Why?

i'm using a bass one shot and pitching them up and down to create a bass melody/movement.

a clicking noise happens and i don't know why?
i'm not cutting off any of the file and it still happens.
usually pitching up +2/+4 steps or more.

does anyone know why or how i can get rid of it?

any help would be appreciated.
thanks.

try making it a loop and then pithshift the result.

if that doesn't work, i would open the file in a wave editor and change the pitch there. then create a new, pitched version of the file and place it on a new track where needed.

if the ticks appear at the beginning or the end of the sound you can open the wave in Sound Forge and check whether it begins and ends at 0 value. if the waveform doesn't begin in the center it might cause clipping when you try to play the sound using another pitch.

I'am very careful when i make my waves and it always begins and ends at 0-level value. Thanks, but this is not the solution to this riddle. Not in my case.
Still hear this clicking noise at the beginning of the wave (in One-Shot mode only). It's a single clip per wave.As i said it happens in Acid 4.0 ONLY.In Acid 3.0 THE SAME WAVE (also in One-Shot mode) is perfect noiseless.I checked all possible audio preferences.I use Terratec EWS88 D card.

I'm very disappointed with this version of acid..& wait 4 your help..

I encountered a similar problem when exporting wavs from Acid for use in Sonar. When I exported, I exported them at the pitch and tempo of the Sonar song I was using. I heard pops. Went in a looked at them in SF and at the beginning of maybe 1/3 of the wavs there was a lot of garbage noise..... didn't really effect the wav at all it was actually just before the musical part of the wav began. Removed it by hand with SF and all was well. Just kinda curious.

Matt, do you want to email me just one of those bass One-shot samples? If I repro I can make suggestions.

I have this same problem and it's really getting old fast. Can someone actually explain it? It's really frustrating and to go back and resample everything is a major pain in the rear.

I can pitch bass One-shots up just fine without any clicks. Using ACID 4.0b build 317 w/ an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 for soundcard. (What are you using for a soundcard?)

If you want, you can email me a couple samples via my post at the bottom of this thread.

I found a solution!!!(with a little help mD -tnx:)
I got out of trouble with simple upgrade from ACID 4 build 215 to ACID4b build 317.
Just download demo version of ACID4b (build 317) from SF web side and run this exec.

There is no any clicks in One-shots! Yeah!!!

sound card Terratec EWS88d (Driver5.0.2000.127),Win2000,DX9.0

Did any of you notice if the event was highlighted (selected)? Mine did the same thing, but only when I played it back with it selected. Once I selected the "Paint" tool (thus un-selecting the event(s)) it was fine. Just puttin it out there...
