Didn't make it into 4.0, how about the next update ?

Synchronising the current project folder to be by default the same folder as 'Save To' and 'Render To'. I cannot think of any reason why one would want to spread stuff from a new project into (separate) previous projects' 'Save To' folders and 'Render To' folders.

As it stands, without active intervention, it is too easy to get files from one project into 3 different folders, 2 of which may be totally unrelated ! Uuuuurgh ...

I realise that the SF Vegas team are probably busy on more important things, but surely this is something the office junior could address ?

Yep, I’ve been asking for something like this for eons...
Jacose wrote on 3/4/2003, 8:21 AM
what about the selection of 3 right-click selectable wave editors?

this feature was in acid 4 (first release) and it helps me alot in my workflow...

can someone plz throw this one in?>

It sucks almost as much as the fact that there is no "recent" drop down menu in the save options dialog.
4 versions now with this madness. I if turn immortal I swear I will follow this through to the end of time, and see if the forces of logic and reason will continue to escape this descrepancy between Vegas and Sound Forge.

Totally agree - same with Render-as. No recently-used directory options. Extremely annoying and undoubtedly ridiculously easy to remedy.

I agree totally with the multiple audio editors idea.

What I'd really really like is:

right click -> Vocalign Left Dub
-> Vocalign Right Dub
(only if vocalign is installed of course: www.synchroarts.com)
You guys have to appreciate how amazing that would be.

Here's a bunch of additional ideas.

1.
Also... ReWire to ACID... this is needed bigtime.
2.
Lose the bloody Zoom out bug... that happened loads yesterday!
3.
When you group items, the fades on the event start and finish should also group!
4.
Keyboard shortcuts to tune events very quickly.. I do that with vocals a lot.
5.
Timesignature / Tempo changes as per ACID. BPM on main screen.
6.
Reverse Audio event switch(ACID has this now?!)
7.
Freeze Plugins feature on Tracks / Busses, as per Logic 6 on Mac.
(that would help so much for when we're maxxing our systems!)
8.
Export all tracks to full length files automatically option (with or without FX)
(helps moving projects sytem to system)
9.
Side Chain Support for DirectX Plugins
10.
Dual Processor / Multithread optimization
11.
Kill the static blasts bug
12.
Recommended or tried and tested hardware configuration on websites. Even if written by users.
13.
Push to Pro-Audio community with magazine adverts, Audio shows etc.
14.
Well, I'm gonna put 'Recorded in Sonic Foundry Vegas' on some releases this year, as per Pro Tools, lol!
15.
Hardware Control. Personally, not bothered if the interface is good, but this is a most requested feature.

I'm sure I could think of more with time.

i hate that too...and when i search for and find lost files, Vegas doesn't remember where they were the next time i open the project.

Isn't this the essence of another problem? Why have two separate apps!!!
Kill the nickel and dime game if no re-wire support.

Jesus &*^$ing Christ!! Now do you people understand why I say there is no real benefit to two separate apps?

...especially when they can't live together; i.e. they fight for inputs and outputs and cause all kinds of problems, at least with the ASIO versions. Either link them (rewire) or combine them or find some way to make them work without workarounds and reloading, etc.
Rednroll wrote on 3/17/2003, 5:19 PM
and don't forget a MONO/Stereo switch for the busses.
and a bypass envelopes button

These are all great suggestions, the problem is we'll probably get 1 out 10 of these suggested audio features and get some Chroma Key sidechaining Video effect, along with a new Rewire video option so you can link Viscosity and Vegas together via rewire video ports.

How long do we have to wait to get the SF Track compressor meters correct? At least this bug is consistent between ACID and VEGAS. I guess if this bug remains long enough, we'll just get use to it and learn to add and subtract to compensate for the bug.
stakeoutstudios wrote on 3/19/2003, 6:42 AM
gotta say, I'd quite like a new Vegas compressor altogether, I've just grown addicted to Waves RCL and Timeworks CompressorX! The Vegas one is OK, but doesn't really compare.

Certain EQ's are better to my ears also - Wave REQ and Waves LinEQ specifically, although the Sonicfoundry one certainly has uses... and mega low CPU use!

Can't grumble to much, the overall quality of the supplied plugs is good. Just greedy is all!
PeterVred wrote on 3/19/2003, 7:24 AM
yes, it totally irritates me also. i have lost files this way, and not even been able to find them at all.
it would be nice that each time you open an old project, all new recorded parts would go to that same directory.
rmjdesigns wrote on 3/19/2003, 11:15 AM
i have to say something here ! if you would learn how to keep good files there is no problem
