Subject:Will not Normalize a file in XP 4.5

I recorded 14 tracks (files) I went back and normalized all like I usally do. This time one of the files didn't normalize. When I do it, the bar at the bottom usally goes twice, once for "building peeks" and the other for "normalizing." The one that won't normalize only does it once. It nveer goes lowder like all the other ones do. What's wrong? How can I fix it? Thank you, Chris.

Maybe there is a short section (invisible at normal zoom settings), maybe a 'spike', that is all the way up to the normalise level. Try listening (watching the meters) through, zooming in, or using the tools to locate the maxiumum sample point. That's possibly why it's not trying to subsequently normalise after peak-scanning.

If so, draw/edit/level set/remove it , down to the level of the majority of the track. Then re-normalise.
