I usually just play guitar & bass into acid but lately I wanted to use a keyboard. I've set the controller up fine, set the thru ports for recording. I make a recording and I can hear it in the acid project during play back. I make sure that the recorded track is mapped to the correct device and I render the track as a wav. or wma etc. The problem is when I play the rendered file I either get no midi track or I get the notes I play but the patch voice is lost ( I just hear a piano instead of strings for example). Then when I return to the project the patch voice is lost and I have to reset everything...Also the graphical depiction of the midi recording looks like a very thin line. Please somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong...I'm just a simple guitarist!!!! |

I too am a mere guitar player.... The first question I have is why do you render the midi track to a wave file? One step you can cut out of your process (and simplifying, I think, is always helpful with midi....) is rendering the track to a different format. Try keeping it as a midi file within your project. As far as the voicing goes - here's my take on the issue: You can use whatever voicing you want to send in as midi data. BUT...Acid uses your computer's midi bank to play back the midi track in the project. So essentially, you need to find a comparable sound from within the track's/computer's midi bank. I found this too limiting since I don't have additional midi voices on my system - just the standard ones that came with Windows, so that's why I sort of gave up on midi. When the update to 4.0b came out, one issue that was resolved was the user's ability to change the midi voicing of the track by double clicking on the name of the midi patch within the 'patch-editor-list-window'(accessible through the midi track soft synth uh....BUS!) As far as the track data showing up as a 'very thin line' - my first thought is to zoom in on the track view and you should see some differentiation in your notation. That's all the midi stuff my brain can handle right now. Hope it helps you out.... Frensog |
