Subject:beatmapper and 6/8 time

Hi all, I have used the beatmapper function many times before to import a .wav file I have made so I can build a percussion track using acid loops (the only thing I currently use acid for). This works great for 4/4 time, however it seems the function is broken for 6/8 time?? I set the time to be 6/8 before bringing in the file, but after I have beatmapped the file, loops will not sync with it. Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround? Thanks, ~Dave |

Most loops were designed with 4/4 in mind. ACID does not (and cannot) take audio that was composed in this way and "stretch" it to another time signature. It'd be like asking to take a 4/4 loop to adhere to a 3/4 time signature. You could cut elements up with the Chopper so that you could create six beats out of the possible four, then take that result and bounce it down to a new track. Get creative with what you have. You could also record and create your own loops. HTH, Iacobus |

I am also running into the same problem- I know it says you can use the chopper to make 3/4 loops, but (lets be honest) it doesn't really work very well... Does anyone know of any products or cd's I could get (preferably Sonic Foundry, or Acid compatible) that would enable a person to build 3/4 songs? Are there more 3/4 loops available? Perhaps a cd dedicated to them specifically? I'm especially having a problem finding/creating melodies that fit! If anyone knows, please email me (jnesvold@telusplanet.net) or let me know here! It's really frustrating when the program says you're in 3/4 time, but you really aren't... |

i use a 4/4 click and faster or slower tempo to match various time sigs. |

??? All you have to do in the Chopper is select 3 beats out of a 4 beat loop. Sure, it gets more complicated as other time signatures are involved, but that's only logical. Example: 3/4 time is a quarter short that of common time (4/4). A loop meant for common time that goes on for 4 beats will naturally stretch over an extra beat in the next bar in 3/4 time. The same loop will stretch over two beats into the next bar in 6/8 time. (Hint: 1 beat in common time is equal to two beats in a time signature that assigns 8th notes one beat.) Simply a matter of fractions. (Wish you paid more attention in math now?) Iacobus |
