Hi, Long time broswer. First time poster. I'm wondering about buying the SF6 Package from Sharbor.com. They have a nice bundle of CDA5/NR2.0/SF6 for 350$. Now, I just seen a thread discussing SF7.0. Should i wait to a month or 2 to buy this or is the package worth it now at the current price? Problem is, If i were to buy the bundle now, i would be higly upset with Sonic Foundry if they release SF7 sometime around May and June timeframe. I'm using this other application called Audio surgeon, as a demo. Just like Sound forge, just without the plug in chainer. Is now a good time to pick up the bundle or wait a few months? |

I bought SF 5.0f and NR 2.0 for $199 at Safe Harbor and 2 months later SF 6 was released, I still consider it an awesome deal. NR 2.0 separately is more than what I paid. MJ |

Software is always being updated. You really can't time the release because companies don't always know EXACTLY when they're going to release the new version. SF typically offers upgrade pricing for much less than the cost to a new user. I can understand your concern though. I went from 5 to 6 last year and I too would feel like "I just bought the 'new' version". Such is the life of software users in a dynamic world! Hope it works out for you. SF6 is a pretty darn good program though, so you should be happy with it. Steve |

Upgrading, either software OR hardware, is what keeps the industry alive and buoyant. Were it not for the "hardcore gamers" we'd probably still all be happy with 286 processors and 1Mb of RAM.... The important thing is that even when SF7 is released, SF6 will still do the job you bought it to do..... 'nuff said! |

Should i wait to a month or 2 to buy this or is the package worth it now at the current price?--- Get it now. Remember that sf6 has gone through 4 bug fixes(a-b-d-e). With one or two more to come for good measure[but don't hold me to that]. This ensures that any project you get will be handled without any drama. Thats a good thing. Plus the upgrade prices are nothing IMHO. With any upgrade there WILL be bugs...I wish it weren't true but it is with ALL software apps. You'd be taking a BIG chance on a client or even your own work to make a deadline with the initial release of SF7. Ed. |
