I'd actually rather specify it myself on a project-by-project basis, as the recording folder location is saved when the project is saved. This location is used later when you open the project again and do more recording. More conducive to organization, IMO. It's better to keep takes with associated projects.

You could create a blank project, do some recording in the folder of your choice, delete the take and then save the project with a name like, "recording template.acd". Then when you go to open this project, the folder of your choice will be available.

i asked this question a while back and this is the answer i got from rednroll:

"That's easy, I set up a default project that I start every new session with. In that Default project I have it directed to record in one specific folder. So everytime I start a new project, instead of clicking on the Acid Icon, I click on my Default project Icon which has all my presets ready to go and everything is already set up the way I prefer to work."

Get a 2d hard drive, make a scratch folder for new projects and another for finished projects, making sure that all your .wav/audio files (including loops I suppose), are also in that drive, etc...don't get anything less than 60G tho, and Seagate's a good name, Western Dig has fast turnaround times tho...or, consider a removable drive bay option...that takes partitioning to a whole new level imho...
