Is it possible to have simultaneously different tracks have different tempos vs a binding project tempo? |

I believe you then need to have the waves as "One-shots" to keep the original tempi. |

I fear that this is impossible in Acid as it stands... What would be nice (IMO) would be another type of loop: a non-synchronised loop. Current loops are always 'synchronised' to the tempo of the project, I'd like to see the introduction of 'looping one shots' that play back at their original tempo (or slower or faster by using CTRL-drag as in Vegas Audio LE etc. etc.). Why would I like this? Well, before I had Acid, I used Vegas Audio LE, and used to loop short (possibly as short as single-cycle) waveforms to produce drones which I could then shape using the enveloping tools. Ok, a bit low-tech when we now have VSTi support, but you can get some interesting effects..! Anyway. How about it? :) john.. namke communications out now: 'available from namke communications' 5 track CDr from Fencing Flatworm Recordings |

I'm not at my computer with Acid on it right now, but I believe you can just double click the track and that little box pops up with that semitone stuff and there is also a speed control where you can adjust the speed of the track. |

You can access the track properties of a Loop and under the Stretch tab, double the number of beats to halve the tempo, and halve the number beats to double the tempo. Not perfect, but it works for that type of track. Beatmapped tracks' tempos can also be adjusted but the master project tempo will be factored into the equation. You could also use Sound Forge's time stretch function to alter a particular file's tempo and insert the file as a One-shot in ACID. One-shots are the only file type where key and tempo are left alone. One-shots can be "looped" as they are. You just have to know how. You can either set the grid to a desired resolution, hold down CTRL with the Paint Tool active and paint away. You could also simply copy a single One-shot event and use the Paste Repeat command (CTRL+B) with the "end to end" paste option. HTH, Iacobus |
