I've been using Sonar for recording but was getting too many "dropouts". This is when the audio and everything just cuts out. It sucks. So I went back to acid. I love it...so easy to use and no drop-outs. I'm using Acid Pro 2.0 and I was wondering if it was possible to monitor the incoming audio. I don't mean just that bar that gives you a visual of the signal coming in. What I mean is being able to hear the audio coming out of your speakers as you record it in. The reason I want to do this is because I'm plugging my guitar into a pre-amp and then from that into my sound card (a delta 66). Therefore I'm not using a separate amp to hear what I'm playing. I find amps add too much hiss. In Sonar I was able to hear the incoming signal because that ability was built into the software. I was wondering if Acid Pro has that ability, and if so, which one? for example maybe acid pro 3.0 has it. I'm using 2.0. Or - I was wondering if my soundcard software would let me monitor the incoming audio (being able to hear it). Does anybody out there know if the delta 66 has this ability? Thanks so much! Joe |

With recording, thats a necessity. When I first got Acid Music and Sound Forge, I had the problem of not hearing the instrument as i recorded it. I didn't know what to do, so i had my tech head brother come, and he said he installed new drivers. I don't know if your problem is caused by drivers that dont do what you are wanting, but thats what the cause was for me. If that doesnt help, sorry |

You'll need to make sure to check the mixer settings for the sound card. If your preamp is plugged into the 'line in' on the sound card, then go to the mixer panel and make sure your 'line in' volume slider is pushed up AND unmuted. I am currently using the KX driver interface for my (don't laugh....) SoundBlaster and there are many, many sliders, faders, mute buttons to deal with and set properly before incoming signal, existing audio (Wave) and headphone/monitor sounds all work together. a place to start checking.... Hi Joe, I use the Audiophile, which is similar in function to the Delta 66. Try this: -Under the Patchbay/Router tab, route the output to Monitor Mixer. -Under the Monitor Mixer tab, enable (unmute) your desired outputs, increase their sliders. Do the same for your desired inputs. At that point, you should be able to hear what you're playing via your guitar in addition to playback in ACID. HTH, Iacobus |

Holy crap it worked!!!! Thank you so much. I was so damn excited when I finally heard the damn sound coming out of the speakers during recording. Music to my ears, literally, haha. Ok, now, one more question. My Delta 66 has 4 ins and 4 outs. The problem is, it only seems out 1 and 2 work. This sucks because when I'm recording in vocals I don't want to hear anything coming out of the speakers. It will of course interfere with the recording. I only want to hear it through my headphones (which is a necessity so I can sing to the music). As a result of not being able to use 3 and 4, I find myself constantly taking out the speaker cords to replace them with the headphone cord. And then when I'm done recording I take out the headphone cord and replace the speaker cord (so I can hear what I've recorded on the speakers, and so everyone else can here). I feel like I'm causing a lot of wear and tear to my sound card. I want to be able to change the settings on the system so I can switch it to output 3/4 and then back to 1/2 at will. As you know (at least in acid pro 2.0), the tracks have separate output settings, so it's very cumbersome to change each track each time. Anyhow, it doesn't seem to work when I do do that. I'm sure there's an easier way that is going right over my head. I was wondering if you had any ideas? Thanks so much, Eternally grateful, Joe |
