1.) Print to tape will work if you *disable* the Enable DV Device Control.

2.) cdw.com also sells them. Also, you can purchase directly from the canopus.cm site.

Thank you.

I just bought one for another edit bay. I got it from B&H Photo . . .

http://www.bhphotovideo.com

. . . and paid $269.95 plus S&H.

Since I also bought another Panasonic BT-H1390Y production monitor, the 32+ bucks S&H won't mean anything to you if you're just buying the tiny Canopus box - figure 12 bucks or so for just that, but better ask B&H yourself. Pro Video phone number is 800-947-9910. This is a very reputable company - I';ve done business woith them many, many times.

I got the Datavideo DAC-100 for about $100 less than the Canopus unit. Similar specs...Works brilliantly so far...cheapest prices on ebay..around $178.

Do you still need to get the ADVC-100 if you have a ATI ALL in WOnder capture card? I can use my graphics card to capture the video what would be the difference if I had the advc-100 device?

Can you use the DAC-100 to preview your output on an analog monitor?

Also, the Canopus ADVC-100 can be set via a special combination of buttons to remove macrovision. DO you know if the DAC-100 can do this also?

BTW almost all of my video work is hobby stuff so I'm not looking to violate any copyright stuff.

"Can you use the DAC-100 to preview your output on an analog monitor?"

Yes...that is mainly what I use it for.

Not sure about the Macrovision disable...not tried it. I have a DVD player with Macrovision "disabled" so it has never been an issue.

In a word...Quality!!!

Yiassou Re!

I'm pretty sure that your ATI card can only "capture dv" and that's all.

The ADVC 100 can "capture" dv and "capture" and encode analog ie. VHS, 8mm etc.
The ADVC 100 can also work the other way ie. convert a digital signal, ie. your
.avi file on your timeline in Vegas AND convert it to NTSC Analog signal so
you can preview your work to an external monitor.....Now before you can say yeah but what about.... VEGAS CAN ONLY OUTPUT A PREVIEW THROUGH YOUR COMPUTER'S FIREWIRE PORT!

Follow this link and it will 'splain everything Lucy!

maybe you can answer a question for me. I used the advc-100 to capture tape to the hard drive with no dropped frames. I hadn't used it again for a month or two. When I captured again, i get nothing but dropped frames. What am i missing? What am I forgetting to do?

Thanks in advance.
