Subject:ACID Music 3.0 freeze on startup

i've had ACID Music 3.0 installed on my old computer and had it run smooth as silk, but i can't get it to even start up on my new box at all. freezes Windows on the splash screen. updated to 3.0g, but the problem still persists. wasn't able to find anything relevant by searching through the knowledge base, sadly.

anywho, i'll throw a few stats up if it'll help narrow down the possibilities -

Windows XP Professional
AMD XP 1800+
512 MB RAM
Creative Sound Blaster PCI
120 GB HD space (18 free on the OS drive)

Does this help any?

I was thinking this could be a possible cause as well, but I doubt it since you said Windows itself locks up.

i thought for sure the first would be a fix, since i use an ATi card, but 2.2 is the first of the Catalyst drivers for WinXP :/
that is, unless, 7.72 falls under 2.1...

bingo! rolling back to 7.72 fixed the problem. many thanks :D

You can also pick up the Catalyst 3.1 drivers at ATI's Web site. They work fine too.

ah, even better - i can get dual monitor support back now ^_^
