I can have 10 different things running in Sonar - synths, midi, audio, whatever - and record more audio tracks with no problems whatsoever. Acid now crashes everytime I press record. Screw it. I will still use it for effects and loop type stuff, mainly bc it's alot easier to use then Sonar, but the majority of my recording will now be in Sonar 2 XL bc I have no problems, zero, zilch, nada, no issues with recording. I am now much happier :):):):):):):)

Thats funny that you say that dude because I'm having the exact opposite results on my system. ;) When I use sonar for mixing I keep getting audio drop outs in the middle of my project. You can see on the HD meter that at one point it gets real high then it all stops. But the funny thing is that in vegas+acid it never freezes and plays well throughout. Still has me scratching my head[hate tweaking sonar]. Hell I've been able to get vsti's running at low latencys in acid in no time but in sonar its always something[though with dxi's ain't sooo bad]. Haven't had a problem with sonar rewired to reason...knock on wood. I've gotta upgrade soon this is killing me. ;)

Hey jeepman-

Give me a bit of info about your system (OS, proc, memory) and post the crash dump...

JC

No offense, but I have several threads that are already posted here on this site with all of that information. I think everyone will attest to all of my woes. I'm tired, you know? I've done everything in the book to try to remedy my situation. If you're reeeeeaaaally interested in what's been going on, most of all my posts have been related to my probs, so you could do a search for them. But honestly, I don't feel like fighting with the program anymore. Like I mentioned before, Sonar lets me record whatever I want, whenever I want without hassle. Though I find it's other features hard to use or even find! So I will continue using Acid for that...i suppose you could say that I am taking the best of two worlds (for me, of course). :)

Thats a really smart thing you are doing and I'm glad you realize that. I have Sonar/vegas/acid on my system. I feel that I'm always "covered" if something goes wrong with either of them. ALWAYS have a backup. Did you read the bug fix report for sonar 2.0 to 2.1? Damn.

Yeah, I figured something had to change big time. No I didn't read the bug fix for sonar...I'm assuming it was probably pretty lengthy?

Jeep,

Too bad you are leaving the fold. I feel for ya but I have been following your issues and I still think there are other things at play here. I (and many others)have never had a problem ever 4.0b and believe me - I pound the crap outa my SF stuff. But I also run a pro level sound card on a box built for specifically for recording.

This is a classic case of hardware getting the best of you. Just because Sonor appears to work fine doesn't mean that Acid is a bad thing.

Good luck with your tunage!

Thanks bro! I've appreciated your (and everyone else's) help. Don't get me wrong...I am still going to use Acid for most of what I want to do, but as for recroding audio, until I get a new computer and test that out, I will be using Sonar bc it doesn't crash. I'm sure future questions of mine regarding Acid will be much more simple. Like:

How do you fade out at the end of a song so my music doesn't just abruptly stop? I read the part of the manual that explains it, tried it, and I must have done something wrong. See, now isn't that a better question than asking what 50 lines of hieroglyphic code means? :)

Gotta love those bus tracks!

Hey, Jeepman, give the tutorials on Acid a try. They point you to the new features in version 4 like being able to use bus tracks to fade, etc. I swear, just like Vegas, the more you use this software, the more you are dumbfounded that it doesn't cost more money!

(Hope SoFo wasn't listening to that!)

Totally OT, but this caught my eye because 83706 is my zip code. Are you my neighbor?

I'm here in Boise, off Park Center. I only use ACID as a hobbyist for scoring videos but it might be fun to compare notes sometime.
