I am having a play with the Acid 4.0 demo and have connected up my keyboard via my Soundblaster Live Dive 2 to trigger the soft synth. I am getting a terrible delay (latency?) between striking the keys and the note sounding of about 0.5sec. If I trigger the Soundblaster sounds, it's fine??? Am I missing something obvious? |

If I go to the prferences/Audio and adjust the playback buffering to 0.23secs the delay almost, but not quite, disappears. Any lower, or higher, and it gets worse again. Come On, somebody must be able to help me here! |

I'll take a stab, first with the SB Live try switching between the Microsoft sound mapper and the Windows classic drivers see if that makes a difference. Being as you don't have ASIO support the latentcy can't get that low. Acid 4.0, much to my dismay seems to be a very buggy application in general, the MIDI aspects are weak so what you're experiencing comes as no suprise. I personally have stopped using 4.0 totally, because things like you're going thru occur too often. |

Alastair, The Creative drivers are crap for playing MIDI. If you're not using ASIO, the latency is to be expected. Unless you're using your SBlaster exclusively for games, do yourself a favor and install the kX Project drivers. Their design is far superior, and they'll give you the performance you need to play MIDI devices flawlessly in Acid 4. If you need help getting them installed and configured for whatever reason, drop me a line here and I'll help you out. HTH, Nick |

Thanks Guys, unfortunately I still have a tiny bit of latency that is enough to be frustrating. I appaera to have got lucky and stumbled on and installed the kX Project drivers already. There is every chance I have not got them configured properly. Anybody at Sonic help? |

Use the ASIO drivers and set the ASIO buffer settings to 2-5 ms. Peter |

Hi Peter. Thanks for the reply. Erm, eh......I'm sorry, could you talk me through how to do that. I am just your average Joe who's "Out where the buses don't run" Sorry for being so dim. |

PROBLEM SOLVED-Downloaded and installed the following http://kxproject.spb.ru/index.php?skip=1 Then in the Audio properties section of the VSTi preferences box selected the KX ASIO Driver and latency is now gone. Perfect Sync! Seemingly Creative dont do ASIO drivers for the SB LIVE DRIVEE 2. The new KX setup works great. |
