I'm thinking about getting a laptop & using it to mix acid tracks live- I don't have a laptop yet & am not sure about where to start as far as sound cards, etc. - also does it help to have a control surface, etc.? any suggestions? Does another software like ableton/live actually work better than acid for this kind of stuff? |

Acid is not designed for live performance, and keeping a continious uninterupted stream of audio going regardless of what the user does is not its first priority. There are many actions you can take while tweaking a track during playback that can cause a rebuffering of audio (which results in a very, very uncomfortable silence). Whereas Ableton will continue to play audio as its first priority (as a live performance tool should). If you take an action that overloads the CPU it will ignore the action in until it can get enough spare cycles to complete the action, thus keeping the music flowing. I still prefer Acid to Ableton for studio work, but it's a real pain resequencing everything for live performance. Hexadecimal www.freesidemusic.com |

Adding to what Hex said, ACID was never designed to be a live performance tool, but rather a production tool, much like Vegas and Sound Forge are. Iacobus |
