background audio

I am having a ball trying to select certain audio tracks from my mp3 collection to place in the background of my movie scenes but there must be an easier way.
Can someone direct me to a site or place where I can aquire different types of background audio for different types of scenes (for example: fun jingles, happy music, sad music, intense scene, excitement, love story audio, childrens music, etc)

Most of what I'm referring to are audio tracks without any voice to them, instrumentals, symphany orchestras, ect. - Ahh YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT I MEAN!

But is there somewhere where you can get it based upon certain categories like I described above? Thanks.

Works great.

I agree with the above AND, meanwhile, you can download the "8 packs" each week on www.acidplanet.com These are free loops for Acid but you can use them in Vegas too...

What are loops? I've never heard of this media type - is it easy to learn? Obviously I'm a newbee

What are loops?

Best way to learn about that end of things is to start reading on-line etc.

VERY basically: A loop is just that, a section of music that starts again from the beginning once it ends. Kind of like creating seamless, tiled background images for web pages etc., the trick to a loop is where you start and stop, so that the listener doesn't notice - it sounds like one continuous phrase.

There are different fomats for music loops (ACID is probably the most popular), and you can change them around a bit, string & piece them together on different tracks for complete songs - this is very basically what ACID does. You can buy CDs full of loops, & find loads of them online. You can create your own, and it used to be pretty popular to create them from short phrases off music CDs or even broadcast commercials (check copyright laws 1st).

Where are the free loops on acidplanet.com....I am registered but I can only find loops for sale?

They're with the 8-packs projects that come out weekly. Look at the upper right side of the site.
Also, on this site, go to STORE and select LOOPS FOR ACID. It lists the different loop CDs available from SoFo. Each loop CD you look at, there are 4-5 free downloadable loops. Given SoFo's vast loop CD collection, at 4-5 free loops each, you'll have quite a few to get started.
If you decide to purchase Acid, I'd recommend a couple CDs that would be useful for video montages.
1st: Definitely the Bill Laswell Collection...THE standard for loop CDs.
2nd: Cinematix series
3rd: Anything dealing with ambient music. I have Liquid Planet and the newly released Slow Silhouette...both are excellent. Ma Ja Le: Saturn and Elsewhere is also quite good.

www.freeplaymusic.com has free music for personal use. Read the disclaimer. They have a good variety of styles.
