Subject:Problem, PLEASE help. . .

I'm a bit new to the ACID family, but I've been having a reoccuring problem thats extremely annoying, although quite simple. When I drag in a .wav to become a track, the tempo/BPM is not kept. So if I clicked the BPM slider, it would say that a certain track is, say, 20% higher tempo than the original.

I can't seem to fix it.

I'm probably just missing some option, but. . .can anyone help me?

(P.S.:It's ACID Pro 4.0b Build 317, I think.)

U dont define if its a loop track or beatmapped . Anyway i suppose u r talkin bout a hard disk track so using the beatmapper on longer tracks is usually needed. If u use the beatmapper untick the "change project tempo to match Beatmapped track".Cheers

I'm not entirely sure I understand your question, but if you want to set the project tempo so that it's the same as a loop (or beatmapped) track, you can right click on the track header and select the "Use Original Tempo" option from the context menu.

Then when you click on the BPM slider you will see that the tempo difference between the track and project is 0%, ie. ACID does not have to stretch or shrink that track to play at the project tempo.

SonicJEV, thanks a lot, but...that problem only helps me if I have just one track.

I don't even know if this is possible or what, but. . .

If I make one track show up at 0%, another is screwed up, like I stated in my post. I'm probably being dumb, but HOW to I get them ALL equal, if thats possible at all?

Changing it into a One-shot fixes the problem, but creates a new one.

There is, of course, major skips if I want to repeat a track.

I'm not 100% sure I understand your question either, however if I'm reading this right what you want can only be achieved if you use loops/one shots that all have the same tempo to begin with. Check the 'Track Properties' for tracks already in the project or look at the info displayed at the bottom of the explorer window when previewing loops.

It's important to note ACID's paradigm. It takes a sample you give to it and stretches it, whether it be by tempo or by key.

The only exception to this rule are One-shots, which are not stretched in any way by ACID; they're left as they are. One-shots only load into RAM if they are 3 seconds or less. Any longer than that and they stream from your hard drive during playback.

Are you having problems with skipping and stuttering with multiple long One-shots? A possible solution would be to have a speedy 7200 RPM model hard drive——even better if you have it dedicated as a 2nd hard drive just for audio.

No, not stuttering.

Well, yea, to a degree, but definetly not that kind of problem. My hard drive is great. The thing is, when you use loops, for instance, you can keep doing it indefinetly and it creates seamless bridges. . .with one-shots, you have to arrange it manually, and I can't seem to get it so it dosent skip between the first one-shot and the next.

Ahhh. I see. Try a couple of things:

-Copy the One-shot event in question. Then use CTRL+B on your keyboard. Use the "End-to-end" option and specify how many times you'd like it to paste. Note that using this method will offset the One-shot in question with the rest of your project, essentially sounding like it it's "off" with the rest of your project. (I hope I worded that right.)

-Try arranging the One-shot's events to your liking. Set the Loop Region over the area of arranged events. (Be sure to be symmetrical about it, i.e., set the Loop Region from beat 1 of measure 1 to, say, beat 1 of measure 3.) Solo the track and use CTRL+M. If it's short enough (~30 is the default), the new track will be turned into a Loop.

Be sure to set the bounced track to 0.0 dB so that it matches the original, or make the original track loud enough but not to clipping before bouncing down.

You may also want to access the new track's properties and change the root note to "Don't transpose" under the Stretch tab, especially if it's a percussion track with no discernable pitch.

perhaps i'm going to say something really obvious here ...

but did you make sure the sample itself is looping correctly? if you didn't cut the sample so that it loops, regardless of tempo, then ACID will probably not stretch it correctly. in other words, if your loop doesn't loop, then ACID will also not make it loop. :)
