I want the vocal taken out of an mp3. So only the music is left to hear. Can this be done? I have soundforge 6.0

The short answer is *no* or to be more accurate, not very well. Do a search on the topic - there's a bunch of threads in the archives that have addressed this.

On the other hand, I have heard MANY "distracting" vocals during my lifetime that I wish I could have extracted or eliminated. In fact, all I have to do is turn on the radio. . . (sorry, I couldn't resist) ;-D

I've seen the best vocal distracting in the 80's at Motley Crue and Poison live shows. From my professional experience, vocal distracting comes in many shapes and sizes, but are always presented in stereo pairs with your occassional 5.1 surround when enough alcohol is added to the mix.

Absolutely! I think Autotune has become the primary "enabler" for many of these folks to keep drinking! ;-O

My college physics teacher talked with a speech impediment. I always found his vocals distracted me from the naps i tried to take in his class.

Analogx's vocal removal tool works fine for certain things ... do a search on "remove vocals" in this forum to learn EVERYTHING you ever wanted to know about the subject.
