Any Registry Tweaks to Improve Render Quality??

All, I have tried several different render settings {DV, uncompressed, etc] and am NOT happy with the results. Text especially gets muddy looking compared to the source material. Are there any settings outside of the Vegas program [Registry Tweaks?] to adjust bitrates or quality settings??. The results I'm getting are ok, but could be a lot better, I am comparing the results to what I can achieve using ULeads DVDWorkshop. I know how to work a registry so any info, is MUCH Appreciated, many thanks in advance.

No registry tweeks but what are your settings on your encoder? I assume you are using Main concept for an encoder. What do you want to output your mpeg file to (what format)?

Try these settings:

Set the Average bitrate to whatever is needed for the length of the video
Minimum to 2,000,000 Maximum 8,000,000

Next, make sure the "Quality" slider is on 31 (mine defaulted to 15)

Set the DC Coefficient to 10 bit.

Are you watching the rendered footage in Windows XP with Windows Media Player? By default it shows DV-files with reduced resolution. I thought I was going to have to give up on DV the first time I saw it (in WMP), it looked really bad, especially text.

Anyway, go to Tools -> Alternatives (or something like that, I have Windows in another language). Under one of the tabs there is a Video Acceleration slider.

That fixed it for me, now the only problem is that it tries to deinterlace footage the wrong way. Oh well, you can also try BSPlayer, that works great.

All,

I was trying to use video for windows with all quality settings cranked to max saving as an avi. Basic newbie error i guess, once I used the mainconcept mpeg2 with all the correct setting per jetdv everything cleaned up great. thanks to everyone that posted, done now..
