Subject:midi control?

I am using acid 4.0. I am having major problems with the midi. I can record and use vst instruments with no problem. I would like to record raw midi data then use it to control and then record from a external sound module (e-mu audity2000). I am able to do this in cubase sx but with no avail in acid. What gives?
