gaps between tracks

I'm having problem with gaps between tracks in CDA5. I'm adding a single large wav file (2:20:00) to the media pool, with "Add to Timeline", "Create Events from Media Regions", "Create Tracks" and "Create Tracks from Media Regions" selected to create track markers from Sound Forge regions. But I'm getting gaps at each track transition.

Also, I want to be able to do a fade out at the end of disc one (around the halfway mark) and then do a fade in a few seconds before the start of disc two. Is this possible? I thought I had it figured out, but when I played the disc back, there were gaps between the tracks. I'm attaching a copy of the cdp file. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to see where the gaps have been automatically inserted (as a result of the way you are doing it), and adjust the gaps manually. To stop getting them, change the default gaps (in preferences ?) to zero.

I would suggest inporting the track without regions, or not converting regions to tracks, instead using 'T' to insert the track markers manually within CDA5. Then you won't get the gaps in the first place.

And sure, you can put fades wherever you want.

use the split function to make events of each track - then you can fade in and out of each event

Thanks for the reply, Geoff. You wrote:

This was already set to zero. In CDA4, I was able to add a wav file (containing regions) to the media pool, double click on it, and voila! Instant tracks with no gaps. So far, I haven't been able to get that to work in CDA5.

If I do this, will I be able to see the markers from the original wav, or will I need to write them down & then hit T where they need to be? I'm looking for the easiest possible solution (that works every time).

Do I need to make the tracks into events to do this?

Where is the Split function located?

Place the cursor line at the point where you want to split, then hit S or Edit->Split from the menu.

Be aware you cannot merge the events again, but with undo.

Gaps..You Can have them!
For those of us who grew up on on the Old CD 4.5, the auto gap creation is
kinda of a drag. When we are working on a CD master it seems more musical
to do the work on the WAV file in Vs 7 (or 4.5). Can you suggest some defaul settings that won't add these auto "things", as it stands now it is hard
just to create a CD with the actual tracks from the regions (the old way!)
