I love their programs, but that PACE copy protection ... I haven't even put my Waves plugins on my newest computer because I'm so scared of it! About a year ago after reading an article that EXACTLY described the symptoms of my PC, I figured out that the majority of my PC's problems were related to PACE copy protection. After some marathon sessions with Waves tech support, my old computer is free from the majority of the PACE problems, but boy was that an experience! The crazy thing was that I didn't even know that my PC was acting up because of the PACE copy protection. It would spontainiously reboot, sometimes several times in a row. It would freeze up in the middle of running programs that didn't even use the Waves software. It really sucked. I got so frustrated that I moved to a Mac for a while, but had stability problems with the Apple format too. I am quite sure that this is because I loaded the Waves plugins and the PACE copy protection on the Mac as well. It is my understanding that PACE is no longer the nightmare that it once was, but using it again feels a little like letting my ex-wife hold on to my checkbook. |

<< It is my understanding that PACE is no longer the nightmare that it once was,>> From what I could gather from the Waves 4 info, it appears that you now have a choice about what kind of copy protection you wish to use. I didn't really check into it in detail but this was my impression from reading the update info. drbam |

I'm running the Pace system with 4.0 Platinum, so far so good with Acid 4.0, Vegas 3&4, SF6, CDA5, BC5 and PT TDM 5.3.1. George Ware |

What do I get in 4.0 that I don't have in 3.5 or 3.6? From what I can see all that's new is the Ren Chan Strip (which I already "have" with the existing plugs and plugin chaining). bgc |

<<What do I get in 4.0 that I don't have in 3.5 or 3.6?>> Besides the Ren channel strip, for SoFo apps it doesn't look like much other than perhaps a small increase in CPU efficiency. As you know, Waves made huge advances with this with 3.5 so I personally doubt I'd go for the upgrade unless its free (you have to have purchased a bundle since Sept 02), which is not the case for me. Note: my comments are just the impressions I've gleaned from the Waves website. If someone has more accurate info, please post. ;-) Thanks, drbam |
