Hi,

I wanted to know where someone could "download" the missing tutorial sample files for this book? The publisher is no help constantly referring me to the web page where they sell the book. I purchased the book so I could learn ACID and the very FIRST chapter is missing an example. I stopped right there thinking if the First chapter is missing sample files, I wonder about the rest.

Has anyone had this issue? I've checked the CD disk with a program called CD-R Diagnostic's and it came back at 0% error. I thinking about returning the book and forgetting Acid.

Sounds like the missing files never made it onto the CD? In any case, I'm sure someone at SoFo can probably help. Either send them an email or give them a call.

I can't help you right now, my PC is down due to a hard-drive failure.
However, when I get it up and running, I could check my CD that came with my Sams, and if it's there, I could e-mail you the missing file.

Hey, are there any other recommended books out there for Acid Pro 3? After messing with it this weekend some more, I have decided it will serve my purposes just fine, but I know there's a lot of stuff I am missing. I think being armed with Apro 3, SF 5 and Fruity 3, I will have no need for anything else, but I really need Acid instruction.

I have the Sound Forge Power book, BTW . . . pretty informative and worth the money, IMHO.

Hi,

I'm one of the authors of this book. This is the first we've heard of any missing files. Maybe your disc was somehow corrupted during the duplication process. In any event, specifically, which file(s) are you missing? Unless I'm mistaken, there are no files referenced in Hour 1 of the book. Maybe you mean something from hour 2? Please let me know what you're missing, or what page of the book contains the reference to the file, and I'll make sure you get the files you need.

Just a nudge to not give up on a great product like ACID because of a small problem with the book!

True. Also, I have to say that the book in question is very good. I found all the material to be extremely helpful and got me going beyond the basic editing. Thanks Gary.

Hi,

No sorry. I was delayed in responding with the Holiday and then me being sick. The files that I am missing are for Chapter 2 not 1 as I had indicated. I mistyped that. For Lesson 2 these are the files I have:
PreviewLoops.acd
PreviewLoopsComplete.acd
AcstBlsE I 01.wav
Electric Guitars 04-10 G.wav
Blues Loop 71-10.wav

I am missing the Guitar Rhythms 16-04.wav file. I've searched the entire CD and did a search on the Internet but I couldn't find the file. I stopped there and tried for over two weeks with the publisher and they did not help.
If you would like, I can send a list of all the files I have on the CD. I was trying with the publisher to get a replacement CD because I thought maybe I was given an old one?

The CD I have is listed as Version 1.0 and the dates for all the Hour Samples are Dated 7/20/2001 11:53AM. Please let me know if you need me to send the lists of all files under the Samples directories.

Ok, you win the "Paying the most attention prize!" You're absolutely right...that file is missing from the disc. Luckily, it isn't a critical file in any of the tasks in that hour, so not having it really will not slow you down at all. If you really, really want that file, I can see to it that you get it.

My best guess as to what happened is that it was included in an earlier version of the project that we work through in that chapter (thus explaining why it shows up on the screen shots), but we removed it for some reason. A little bit of sloppy authoring coupled with a little bit of sloppy editing, and you have a problem. I'm really sorry about that. And I'm sorry that the publisher didn't prove more helpful.
