Subject:Yes... I have Acid 20.d, but please help me anyway

I'm switching over to Cakwalk Pro Audio 9 after I do a critical upgrade on my computer and OS, so there's no point in upgrading Acid right now, but I have 3 problems that I need fixed to finish my album. Don't laugh... here's my hardware: SOYO mobo, 500MHz AMD K6/2, 288MB RAM (yes I know that's weird,) Aardvark 24/96 Direct Pro, and Win98SE. PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP!!!!!! 1. All my IRQ settings are fine, but I still get a *pop* at the beginning of every track when I record to CD, and sometimes one at the end. 2. I record direct (I don't bring in loops) and when I "Mix to New Track", the new track sounds wavy, like someone singing through a fan. This is especially noticeable when I use an effects processor (ZOOM 505II) as a pre-effect or pre-amp, but seems to happen regardless of whether I use the effects processor or not. 3. There's a lot of space between songs when I burn to CD... a lot. No matter where I set the loop region before burning, I'm averaging about 8 sec. of dead air at the beginning of each song and about 5 sec. at the end of each song, discluding one song which has 4min. and 15 sec. at the end(which I think might be my mistake.) 2 or 3 seconds between each song is fine, but a total of 13 sec.? Listeners will fall asleep before Track 2 comes on! I know I'm talking about dinosaur software on a dinosaur system, but surely SOMEONE knows how to work around these problems just so I can finish this album. I'm desparate and have neither the time, nor resources to build a new PC right now. I just want to create a master copy CD that sounds good. Then I can start worrying about catching up to the 21st century. |

I feel for you. I would like to upgrade myself in the near future. Hey, at least you have a nice soundcard. ;o) 1. Try burning to CD at a lower setting than the maximum. 2. Sounds like the track being bounced down is being turned into a Beatmapped track. (Consult the track's icon in the track list; it tells you what kind of track it is amongst the three types.) Double-click the track's icon in the list and change the track type to One-Shot. 3. Strange. You should have about 2 seconds for a gap between songs, not 8 or 5. Might want to check that your CD-R (or CD-RW) has any updated firmware for it. Ensure too that your project doesn't have any audio events, however small, at the absolute end of the project. Are you rendering the track or burning the CD from acid. Rendering the mix and then burning for Easy CD Creator works for me. |
