AVI Problems - THE ANSWER

I have recently posted a topic on the forum about my AVI files not working. Well, I have found the answer to my own question (thanks to discdude). If it is a DivX encoded video, the DivX 5.0.3 update will fix the problem.

We also made some changes in Vegas 4 that should allow DiVX 4 stuff to work (worked around one of their strange initialization behaviors), but it's great to hear the DiVX folks also fixed their stuff. It's still not an officially supported format, but it should work much better now <g>.

The tech support guy that answered my reply said that no DivX worked, so basically he said I was screwed on using DivX encoded AVI files. I got the 5.0.3 update and it worked. I wonder if he knew that.

I didn't say that no DivX files work, I said that DivX is not supported. The Tech Support department cannot offer assistance if you run into problems with unsupported file formats. I'm glad you found a solution for your problem.
