Is there a way to start sound forge recording at the same time I hit play on my audio control head?

I and probably others would like to help you, I sync SF with other apps. and external gear but I'm not familiar with "audio control head". What MIDI capabilities does it have?

Sorry about the confusion. The equipment is not in another room and what I mean by a control head is simply the play button on the multimedia interface on my computer. The interface includes the following modules:
Mixer, CD Player, Equalizer, and File Player.

I basically am asking if SF can be put in a "record pause" mode until I hit the play button on my interface thereby causing the media to begin playing and concurrently putting SF into the record mode.
