Your sound card must expose 6 discreet outputs (as three stereo pairs) in order to permit ACID to route 6 different streams. I don't believe that the c-media 5.1 provides drivers to do this, but you will have to check with your PC vendor/C-Media. Peter |

My onboard soundcard has 6 discreet outputs (as three stereo pairs.........so what is wrong with my setup???? When i'm watching dvd's (demonstration dvd's) i can hear each channel... left, right, center, left surround, right surround and sub!!!! The only problem is with ACID!!! Please someone from sonic foundry reply because the reason i bought this product (from Greece) is for 5.1..... and it's expensive too!!! |

SonicPCH is from Sonic Foundry :-) He is also correct. The sound card you have does not expose individual ouputs. The way ACID works is that you set one stereo pair for the front, one for the rear, and one for the center and subwoofer. Your sound card just exposes C-Media 5.1. If you look in Options/Preferences/Audio, you will likely see that you cannot choose select a front, rear, and center/LFE once you choose Windows Classic Wave Driver as your playback device. Ted |

The 5.1 Platinum won't work. Anything in the Audigy family should work fine though. Ted |

Is there a list of compatible sound cards so we can use the 5.1 feature? |

Yeah I think that would be good. I am having a hercules game theater 6.1 external sound card. It is a seperate descrete channel. But it seems does not perform as it is. have you guys test out acid pro 4.0 with this sound card before?? |

Dear All i have the MUSE 5.1 DVD sound card, i wonder if it works, i think it has the same c-Media processor, and i can't get to choose the channels, in the 6 speakers, any drivers like or patches to make it work :) Thanks |

I had the same issue with the same Asus board. I bought a SB Audigy Platinum for $150 and it goes to a receiver with Multi Channel inputs via 3 stero outs from SB. The optical or coax outs didn't work! |

The DRIVER for you sound card must ALSO expose 6 discreet outputs. Just because the hardware has 3 stereo connectors, does NOT mean that the driver will expose them in a way that ACID can connect to them. If you look in the ACID audio prefs, there are THREE seperate settings for Front/Rear, and Center/LFE. In order to hear the correct audio from your hardware, the driver for you hardware MUST have 3 DIFFERENT ports listed in these boxes. If they are all the same, then you will NOT hear the audio spread across the different speakers. Peter |

We have the Gamesurround Hercules MUSE 5.1 card in house. It is a C-Media device and does not route surround properly when used in Sonic Foundry apps. If you are only getting a single selection for your routing options (ie. C-Media Wave Device) you will not be able to route surround properly. In the case of the MUSE 5.1, all of the audio goes to the front speakers. There will be no sound from the rear, center, or LFE. -JC |

Add my name to the confused list. I have an old Sounblaster 1024 live which I believe id only 4.1. Does anybody knwo whether I have to buy a full audigy package i.e. inc 5.25 patchbay or can I just buy the soundcard and re-use my live drive 2? I take it the Audigy card is a definite goer? |
