I'm brand new to the software, so I know very little. I want to be able to edit music recorded on a CD-R. I tried opening it in Sound Forge in a raw file format with no succes. I then converted the CD into a wave format using the Real One player, but I can't seem to access it through SF Open File. Anybody has any suggestions? I have a 4.5 XP. Thank you |

i'm not sure about version 4.5, but i know SF 6.0 has an "Extract Audio from CD" option. i would think SF 4.5 also has this option. if so then it's a simple matter of putting the cd in the drive and rip the audio directly into SF. EDIT : never mind, i just read SF 4.5 doesn't have that option. so either you'll have to upgrade SF, or you have to use another program to rip the audio. |

I suggest you try the freeware Cdex to rip the audio. It is a high quality tool and has lots of tweaks for geeks. The WAV files should open fine in 4.5 http://www.cdex.n3.net/ |
