Subject:Where is the AC-3 encoder in DVD Architect??

I've downloaded the beta versions of Vegas 4 and DVD Architect. I see on this web site that DVD Architect is supposed to include an AC-3 encoder. But where is it? I start up DVD Architect and I can't see any way to create AC-3 files.

What I want to do is to simply import 6 separate mono wav files, and save it out as a single 5.1 encoded .AC3 audio file.

Have I misunderstood something? Is DVD Architect supposed to be able to do this, or is there a separate program for this?

Thanks for any advice,

- Bjorn Lynne

The AC-3 encoder is at present a seperate download. You wouldn't be able to use it with the VV4 & DVD Architect beta's anyway as they won't allow use of mpg or ac3 files. This is due to licensing costs.

Because of this there is little point in allowing downloads of it with the beta's.

The full version of VV4+DVD Architect when it arrives will include the ac3 encoder.

In that case, I have been unable to find it. I can't see it linked on any download page that I have seen, including the one for Vegas4beta / Vegas+DVD beta.

Can you provide a link to download this AC-3 encoder?

Thanks,

You gotta buy it to use it

http://www.sonicfoundry.com/products/showproduct.asp?PID=772

But don't because if you buy it now it doesn't appear that you can use this purchase for credit against the one in DVD Architect - So you'd end up paying twice should you buy architect !

Okay, so you're saying it's a kind of "Sonic Foundry Shared Plug-in" which will also appear as "Render as AC-3" from the Vegas4 File menu?

Yep

The current ac-3 encoder for the link I have given is a plug-in for Acid Pro & that's how it works. Allows you to set 5.1 for the properties of the project & then allows you to render 5.1 files from the timeline.
