Could you give a little bit more info on your soundcard and video card?

You installed 3 or 4? How do you not know which version you have? You can find out which version of ACID you have by going to Help>About ACID Pro on the menu bar (or just simply look at the title bar).

I have ESS Maestro sound card and ATI Rage AGP 8Mb video card. I first installed version 3, then uninstalled it because of the crashing. The same thing happened to version 4 so I really don't know what to do...My computer is HP Omnibook 6000, if that helps...

Thnx

Here are a couple of things to try:

-Use the latest build of ACID.

-Update the drivers for any device that needs them by clicking here at HP's site. There are some fairly new drivers there, especially for video.

-Be sure not to run anything else in the background while ACID is running, like software firewalls, instant messengers, and antivirus programs.

-As a last ditch effort, seriously consider reformatting. If this system has been running the current install of Windows for awhile, chances are there's all kinds of junk and residue from uninstalled programs that can not only slow down your system but cause mysterious errors in programs. I always suggest this to users who have systems that are just too far gone, especially when an app like ACID Pro is involved, which typically requires your PC to be at least in good shape performance wise.

As I said, this is a last ditch effort and shouldn't be done by anyone unless they know what they're doing. If you have to, pay a professional to do it. (Don't be frightened by what I'm suggesting; I'm just giving you options so that you'll be informed when you make a decision somewhere down the line.)

HTH,

If you post the complete error message, there may be some .dll file mentioned that will give a clue to what the problem might be. Also, do you get similar errors with any of your other programs or windows functions? What other music software do you have installed?
