The beta versions expire sometime around February 21st. I would venture to guess that the release will happen by then.

Would anyone care to tackle this..? why would one, if they already have VV3, SF6, Acid4 and CDA5, want to even think, even think about getting vegas video 4...? is that sick or what..? I mean, aside from the fact that one thinks it's a great company in a great town with great products...

The DVD tool is impressive.

I posted a list of the stuff that really turned me on here:
http://www.sonicfoundry.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=149915

my list has grown since then, but it's up to you whether it's worth the upgrade. there is a beta out, and you can try the demo when the final version is released.

Well, because Vegas 4 contents all the things I was missing in Vegas Video 3!

There are lots of good reasons described in a V4 review here:

That is an excellent review Marty! Thanks for the link.
I haven't had much time to check out the beta. Been having way, way too much fun utilizing Acid Pro 4 lately. Amazing applcation!
Cheesehole's list is cool too. Very nice!

VV3 and earlier versions of Acid suffered from the occasional "....audio operaton timed out" error message, related to - Firewire drives, reading multiple files from multiple drives???
Apparently, this is fixed in A.Pro 4 with the NEW audio engine.
I NEVER get that error message anymore, and haven't seen any posts from AP4 users mentioning it either.
This is "fixed" in Vegas 4 as well....I'm sure.

My "consumer(spending)confidence" is low right now, but I too will do this (particular) upgrade. For the AUDIO editing AND the VIDEO editing improvements!

Thanks Sonic Foundry & all the users who submitted their product suggestions!
I'm impressed!

The changes in the Pre-render system, which make them "sticky," are wonderful. They come back now, if there was no actual change. You don't lose everything and have to prerender, again.

PLUS, NOW, you can use those same prerenders to automatically assemble a SINGLE, standard, full length .AVI, by just saying render rather than prerender. If the prerenders exist, it puts them all together IN RECORD TIME, and you have a single file, should you need it. AMAZINGLY fast.

If the entire project is already pre-rendered, it just assembles. If there are spots with no pre-renders, it assembles what it can, and renders the rest. All in all, VERY fast.

The above changes, ALONE, are worth the price of admission to me.

My only regret it that prerender is still not automatic in the background. But, perhaps next time, please, SoFo?

For the past week, or so, I've been checking this web site - sometimes three times a day (O.K., I'm a bit compulsive sometimes) - to see if the new products are up! You can bet that the moment Sonicfoundry puts the Vegas 4.0 & DVD Architect upgrade out for purchase, I'm buying!

Up until now, with a couple dozen hours spent on the Vegas 4.0 beta program, there as been NO crash! (Now that I've said that, all hell will break loose on my computer!) So far. . . the program is rock solid with my system! I'm a happy camper!

When, Sonic Foundry, when????

Cheers! :)
