Hello, all - Is 6.0 bug-free yet? I was gonna wait 'till the smoke cleared before I made the move from 5.0. I'd love to get it for our studio, but I can't risk halting production over here if something goes awry. What's the scoop? Is everybody happy with it? - pup |

6.0 has some annoying bugs but nothing that renders it unusable... for 99.99% of us anyway. It rarely crashes. It's far better and faster than the clunky 5.0 . |

Agreed - I skipped 5 and went straight from 4.5 to 6. Vast improvements, though do get the occasional crash and there is the odd bug. Still, I'd definitely upgrade Pup. Ben |

I LOVE updates of ANY kind, and wish there were more of them, even if they just change the color of the splash page, I DON'T CARE...! give me updates once a week in all my applications, and no autoupdating either; I prefer manual all the way hello... |

There are two bugs that seem to affect many users, and definitely require attention: 1 - The graphical 'forgetting that the waaveform has been editied on zoom-out' bug 2 - The error message on Save As when the peak file scan begins At least number 1 is acknowledged and has been stated as being addressed. Dunno if they have duplicated number 2, but considering there seem to be a bunch of us getting the same error, I guess they have, geoff |

So you are all content with using 6.0d? Or did some of you feel it necessary to go back to 6.0b? Some forum posts about the subject scare me a bit. When it comes to editing software, I'm definitely not a "man of adventure." Refer to: http://www.sonicfoundry.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=151426&Replies=19&Page=1 |

Both should be fixed in the next update. |

In 6.0d - Related to the "save as" bug is that your region markers get moved if you save as *.wav and get the error message. If you save as *.w64 your regions can get erased completely. I've posted the details on this under the "save as bug" thread. |

"1 - The graphical 'forgetting that the waveform has been editied on zoom-out' bug" So THAT'S what it was! I encountered that this week-end...wondered why it did that. I removed a spike, but it still showed on zoom out, even though the audio was improved. I'm not used to spotting bugs...figured it was system related. M |

I see this all the time too. My typical sunday morning chore is to record the church service, cut it down to under 78 minutes, clean it up and normalize it, then burn it to a CD. One of the things i do a lot of is slicing out spikes, like when speakers make that *TK* sound with their tongue, or when someone sets a book down on the pulpit. It's amazing how much more enjoyable it is to listen to the recording when these things are gone (not just compressed). It was very disconcerting when these spikes would still be there in the waveform display after zooming out. "I know i just sliced that ... why is it still there? ... wait, i zoom in and it is gone ... huh?" But now i've learned to live with it. After i do a bunch i'll rebuild the waveform display. |
